Studio on Shem Romantic Getaway

When was the last time you took a “parent’s vacation”?  It had been awhile for Aaron and I.  This past May (before we relocated from IL to SC) we were blessed to get to spend a week, alone together in South Carolina to celebrate Aaron’s 40th birthday.  I’ve been wanting to write this post for several months because this place was SO perfect!

We knew at the beginning of 2019 that we were going to take the leap of faith and “really” start looking into the possibility of moving our family to South Carolina and we also knew that we wanted to take a trip to celebrate Aaron’s 40th birthday.  We decided to combine the 2 into 1 trip so we Shem Creek 11planned a 7-night vacation in South Carolina where we would stay the first 2 nights in Summerville (the town we ended up relocating to) to meet with a Realtor and look at homes.  The remaining 5 nights we spend in the CUTEST studio that we found on VRBO.

Studio on Shem is located in Mount Pleasant, SC a short drive to downtown Charleston and also a short drive out to 2 of our favorite Charleston area beaches (Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms).  We felt like this was the perfect location for us because when we visit Charleston we like to split our time Shem Creek 9between the beaches and downtown.  The Studio is located on the lower floor of a beautiful home with a picturesque lot that sits right on Shem Creek.

The homeowner has decorated the studio so beautifully.  The colors and lowcountry decor are welcoming and relaxing.  The studio, although small, was perfect for the 2 of us and was very well stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.  The kitchen comes equipped with everything you would need if you were preparing meals.  The homeowner even left us a bottle of Champagne in the fridge upon arrival.  As an added bonus there is a full size washer and dryer available in the studio.

The grounds that the house and studio sit on are GORGEOUS with a small Shem Creekpond right outside the studio door, plenty of shaded grass under the large oak trees and AMAZING sunsets off the dock overlooking  Shem Creek.

If you enjoy getting out in nature you’ll love Studio on Shem because they have 2 bikes, 2 kayaks as well as 2 paddle boards available for guests to use.  The homeowner was SO gracious and even helped Aaron and I load the kayaks into the creek and gave us some tips on when to go Shem Creek 7out based on the tides.

Charleston is SUCH a great destination for a romantic getaway, and Studio on Shem was the perfect choice for our stay.  If you’re interested in more information on this property let me know and I’d be happy to share the rental link and answer any questions you have.
